Meet Dr. Nicholas Tipton
Nicholas Tipton
DDS, MS
Dr. Nicholas Tipton is a periodontist and implant surgeon at Custom Periodontics and Implantology in Fort Worth, Texas. He has a particular interest in dental implant surgery, full-arch treatment, gum grafting, and complex bone and soft-tissue reconstruction.
Dr. Tipton was born and raised in Houston, Texas. He earned his Bachelor of Science from Texas A&M University before receiving his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from UTHealth Houston School of Dentistry. He then completed a three-year specialty residency in periodontics at Texas A&M College of Dentistry in Dallas, where he earned a Master of Science in Oral Biology and a Certificate in Periodontics. His graduate research focused on advanced techniques for developing bone for dental implant placement, and he is board eligible by the American Board of Periodontology.
Dr. Tipton was drawn to periodontics because it combines precision, problem-solving, and the ability to rebuild what has been lost. He especially enjoys implant and full-arch treatment because of the opportunity to restore function and confidence for patients who have struggled with missing or failing teeth. He is equally passionate about gum grafting and periodontal plastic surgery, where careful attention to the soft tissues can improve both the health and appearance of a patient’s smile.
Committed to continually advancing his surgical skills, Dr. Tipton regularly participates in specialized continuing education, surgical training, and professional conferences. His ongoing education focuses on advanced implant therapy, full-arch rehabilitation, bone regeneration, sinus augmentation, and contemporary soft-tissue grafting techniques. He believes that continued learning is essential to providing patients with thoughtful treatment options and modern surgical care, particularly in complex cases.
Dr. Tipton also understands that the idea of dental or periodontal surgery can be intimidating. His approach is to explain treatment clearly, discuss options honestly, and make sure patients understand not only what is being recommended, but why. His goal is for every patient to feel confident in both their treatment plan and the team caring for them.
Dr. Tipton is an active member of the American Academy of Periodontology, Academy of Osseointegration, Texas Society of Periodontists, Southwest Society of Periodontists, American Dental Association, and Texas Dental Association.
Outside of dentistry, Dr. Tipton enjoys golf, cooking, running, cycling, and weightlifting. He is proud to call the Fort Worth area home and enjoys spending time with his boxer, Louie
